ABOUT FLIGHTSTORY
We are a media and investment company, and we are on a mission to elevate the stories, build the communities, and support the founders that inspire a happier, healthier humanity. We scale creator-led media, ventures and communities.
ROLE MISSION
This is the chance to define what communications looks like for the creator age - at the moment the entire media industry is being rewritten. You build and lead comms across the media portfolio and set the story on every surface that matters now: from tier-one editorial, to creators and the platforms they live on, to our audiences and communities direct. You are building for a world where creators are the channel, and the line between a creator, a media company, a brand deal, an investment and a venture is increasingly thin.
KEY OUTCOMES
The narrative is ours, and it is owned. Tier-one editorial and brand partners across the US, UK and EMEA understand what FlightStory is, why creator-led media is the future, and why we are the company building it.
Audience comms is a discipline in its own right. Shows, creators and brand worlds grow because the right audiences hear about them through the channels they actually live in - from The Telegraph to TikTok, the FT to the For You page.
Our media, strategies and partnerships are amplified through creators themselves - from guests to the wider creator economy - as a deliberate, designed strategy, built for a world where the creator is the medium and the message.
Commercial partnerships land for everyone. Brand deals, sponsor activations and category-defining partnerships are positioned for impact - for the partner, the media, FlightStory and the creators.
Executive positioning is sharp, consistent and category-defining across editorial and the platforms where the conversation is actually happening.
Risk and reputation are actively managed. When something hits, the response is composed, authentic and on-narrative.
AI is woven through the workflow - used fluently to draft, monitor, brief, measure and move faster. We visibly operate at a different pace because of it.
Press and creator relationships are real, current and active. Senior journalists and thought leaders across media, business, technology and culture pick up the phone, or answer the DM, because they trust you.
CORE COMPETENCIES
Creator-age native. You understand the creator economy as the category, not the buzzword. You see creators as the most important new media surface of the next decade - and you have views on which ones matter, why, and what comes next.
Fluent across the full media spectrum. Equal confidence from Bloomberg to a Substack drop, a Vogue profile to a creator's group chat. A broadsheet splash and a viral TikTok aren't different jobs anymore - and you know which to lead with for which story.
Editorial taste. You can tell status from noise without being told. You write well, think structurally, and spot the angle nobody else has clocked.
Press-network real. Existing, active relationships with senior journalists across business, media, technology and culture in the US and UK. References will bear this out.
Audience-builder, not just press-getter. You understand how shows and creators actually grow, and can design a strategy that builds a brand - not just press reach.
Risk and reputation operator. You anticipate exposure before it materialises, and you've held the line through a real crisis.
Obsessed with AI in comms. You believe AI will rewrite this discipline faster than almost any other, and you want to be the one rewriting it. You experiment with new models, build your own workflows, know what works versus what's theatre, and can show us systems you've built to make yourself faster.
Plugged into culture. Actual culture, not LinkedIn culture. You have a POV on the group chat, you know what's moving on TikTok and Substack this week, and you're early on the people and brands everyone else is about to be talking about.
Talent-fluent. You've worked closely with creators and talent and know how to advise, protect and elevate them without losing your own point of view. Creators are partners, principals and brand worlds - not assets to be managed.
Brand-world literate. You understand how a show becomes a brand, a brand becomes a category, and a category becomes a culture-defining business. You make sure the comms story and the commercial story are the same story.
A leader under pressure. You hold standards while everything moves around you, and your judgement improves under stress rather than degrading.
Operationally fierce. Allergic to vagueness, bureaucracy and "circling back." You finish things and move at pace.
YOU'LL THRIVE HERE IF
You believe the future of comms is being rewritten right now - that creators, audiences, brand worlds, partnerships and ventures are one connected system - and you want to be the person writing that future, not catching up to it.
You can name three TikTok creators who'll be household names in 18 months, three Substack writers worth reading this week, and the next three op-eds you'd place - where, and why.
You believe AI will reshape comms faster than most disciplines, and you want to be early, fluent and ahead.
You take risk and reputation seriously, and know protecting the downside matters as much as building the upside.
The idea of running point on a media launch in LA, a DOAC community event in New York, a brand partnership reveal in London, a creator op-ed, an executive keynote and a sensitive reputational moment - all in the same week - makes your heart beat faster.
You believe a front-row seat to a category-defining build is worth more than a predictable lane at a bigger, slower business.
You're ambitious in a way that's unmistakable, and energised by pace, proximity and rooms full of consequential people: creators, CMOs, investors, editors - the people deciding what culture looks like next.
You're not precious about ego, hierarchy or job descriptions. You live in the future but learn from the past.
You love data as your thought partner. You kill the guesswork. Romantic about the mission, unromantic about how we get there.

A genuine, active network of creators and senior journalists across business, media, technology and culture in the US and UK.
Demonstrable experience holding the line on risk and reputation.
Demonstrable AI fluency.
A passport that's seen action and an appetite for more - comfortable with international launches, briefings, partnerships and crises across time zones.
Demonstrable taste in your writing, your presentation and your thinking.
